Inspiration For Use Of Fast Motion

I have often seen the use of time lapse film/photography depicting urban landscapes and I think it is really effective in demonstrating the passing of time in an interesting way.
Considering the main theme of my short film was memory, with the underlying message also being cherishing memories in general, the use of fast motion in my short film was relevant and useful in demonstrating the point I wanted to make.
The fast motion allowed the symbolic representation of how quick time can pass people by. I made my fast motion unique to my short film by not having the shot run as fast as is typical for the conventional speed of a time lapse (usually it is a lot faster). Also the shot was different from convention in the sense it was continuously moving instead of being stationary like a lot of time lapse shots.
My chosen speed still allowed the audience to take in the environment being shown and allowed the voiceover to match what was on screen more correctly.

Use of Motion

I was able to use a technique on the software that allows a pattern of light to move from left to right over the text. I thought this was useful, and worth doing for the presentation of my title in the short film.
In general Motion allows a much more interactive experience with the textual formats offered for editing on a computer, as opposed to Imovie or Final Cut Pro. I was also able to space the individual letters apart in the word 'Remember' which allowed for a wider space covered on the screen and a more bold visual effect when actually seeing the title in the short film.

Voiceover Inspiration and Connection

The way the voiceover describes the character on screen creates the similar effect for audience recognition I aim for in my film.
In my voiceover I foreshadow Chris's character with a few lines, similarly so does the voiceover in the clip above, an example being '...'
This builds up excitement for further presentation of the character.

At first I doubted whether to put a voiceover in my short film as it felt like I was doing something unconventional along the lines of social realism in the sense that usually in a social realism film directors let their characters speak for themselves and develop the film along their characters progression. The main reason why I ended up dong this against the norm of my genre was because I was working with a small time frame, as I was making a short film.
I feel that from this I developed a similar impact through the use of my voiceovers with a 'short and sweet' aspect that some movies provide for their audiences at a longer length, but only in terms of thematic information. This is because the voiceovers allowed me to quickly and in detail reveal important information for a viewer in question watching my film. (Re-word)
